Larimar

COLOR & LIGHT: Larimar displays dramatic patterns of blue, blue-green, and white.

PHYSICAL: VERY RARE - A form of blue pectolite, a sodium calcium silicate mineral with a hardness of 4.5 to 5. It forms in cavities within basaltic lava. Iti is only found on the island of Hispaniola, in the Caribbean Sea.

HISTORICAL: NEW AGE - The first mention of the stone is in a request to mine Larimar in 1916, however, it wasn't until 1974 that the stone really made an appearance. Island legends said that the stones could be collected easily on the beach, but one day there were no more blue Larimar stones left. Locals explored upstream and found a rock formation, which appeared to be the source of the blue stone.

ENERGETIC: Promotes serenity, relaxation, and strengthens the emotional self. It soothes the emotional body, releasing stress and tension. It is especially useful for those with phobias, panic attacks, stress-related imbalances, and excessive anger or fear.

METAPHYSICAL: A tremendous benefit to the throat chakra providing clear communication with emotional strength and stability. It is also a stone of feminine power.
