PHYSICAL: RARE - A type of obsidian found where there is volcanic activity. Obsidian is the most common form of natural glass. It is a glassy, silica-rich volcanic rock with a hardness of 5 to 5.5. Gold sheen obsidian is more rare.
HISTORICAL: VERY ANCIENT - Obsidian has been used since the Paleolithic times to make arrowheads and other tools. The name obsidian is derived from the name of the prominent ancient Roman, Obsius.
