COLOR & LIGHT: Aquamarine is a blue or sea-green variety of Beryl. It can range from opaque to transparent gem quality minerals. The blue color of this stone comes from minor traces of iron.

PHYSICAL: VERY RARE - Aquamarine is a beryllium aluminum silicate with a hardness of 7.5 to 8.

HISTORICAL: ANCIENT - Its name is derived from the Latin meaning "water of the sea." The first recorded use of this mineral was around 400 B.C. in Greece, but has been used throughout multiple societies for over 2,000 years. It can be found in the United States, Brazil, Australia and several countries in Africa. The highest quality specimens come from Pakistan and Afghanistan.
